For a while there, it seemed like we were seeing the start of a freakishly early Summer. Sadly, it was not the case, and now we're back into the usual miserable, unpredictable, drizzly, damp Spring. The bright spots in this bleak, room-temperature landscape can be found in the displays of flowers at stores and stands dotting the roadsides here in eastern Connecticut.
I felt a little guilty taking this picture instead of buying some flowers. I actually worried the owner of this store might come after me shaking his fist and accusing me of absconding with some of his colors, like in the story of the girl who steals the smell of baking bread. But buying a pot or two of flowers wouldn't be the same. To fight the Spring you need ALL the flowers, and, among other problems with that plan, they wouldn't fit in my apartment.
